Ingredients

  • 3/4 - cup Butter
  • 1.5 cups - powdered Sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tbsp - Lemon peel
  • 1/4 cup - Lemon juice
  • 3 cups - flour
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1 tsp - baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1.5 cups - buttermilk (thick lassi)
  • For the Honey sauce:
  • 1/4 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 cup - Honey
  • 1/4 cup - water
  • 2 tbsp - Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp - Lemon rind
  • How to Make Lemon cake with honey sauce:

    1. Beat butter with the powdered sugar.
    2. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well.
    3. Add the lemon peel and lemon juice.
    4. Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
    5. Add buttermilk (thick lassi) to the egg mixture alternatively with flour.
    6. Bake in a greased, dusted ring mold at 180 degree C for about 45 minutes.
    7. Turn out on a wire rack.
    8. To make the honey sauce:
    9. Boil sugar with honey and water for 1 minute.
    10. Take off the fire.
    11. Add the lemon juice and lemon rind.
