Ingredients

  • 3/4 - cup Butter
  • 1.5 cups - powdered Sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tbsp - Lemon peel
  • 1/4 cup - Lemon juice
  • 3 cups - flour
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1 tsp - baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1.5 cups - buttermilk (thick lassi)
  • For the Honey sauce:
  • 1/4 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 cup - Honey
  • 1/4 cup - water
  • 2 tbsp - Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp - Lemon rind

How to Make Lemon cake with honey sauce

  • Beat butter with the powdered sugar.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well.
  • Add the lemon peel and lemon juice.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Add buttermilk (thick lassi) to the egg mixture alternatively with flour.
  • Bake in a greased, dusted ring mold at 180 degree C for about 45 minutes.
  • Turn out on a wire rack.
  • To make the honey sauce:
  • Boil sugar with honey and water for 1 minute.
  • Take off the fire.
  • Add the lemon juice and lemon rind.
