  • 125 g - Butter
  • 180 g - flour
  • 3/4 tsp - baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 - large eggs separated
  • 185 g - Sugar
  • 1 tbsp - cognac or brandy or rum
  • 1.5 - 2 tsp - grated Lemon zest
  • 75 g - of choco chips according to your taste
  • How to Make Lemon Chocolate pound cake:

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
    2. Butter and flour a loaf pan.
    3. Sift the flour along with the baking powder and a pinch of salt.
    4. Whip the egg whites until they hold soft peaks.
    5. Cream the butter until light and fluffy. Beat sugar until fluffy.
    6. Beat in the egg yolks until light and lemon-coloured and then add the cognac and zest. Gradually fold the sifted flour mixture into the butter-egg mixture.
    7. Fold in the beaten egg whites just until the batter is smooth.
    8. Now add in chocolate chips and mix till they are uniformly mixed.
    9. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake in the oven for 35 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick pierced in the centre comes up clean.
