  • 125 g - Butter
  • 180 g - flour
  • 3/4 tsp - baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 - large eggs separated
  • 185 g - Sugar
  • 1 tbsp - cognac or brandy or rum
  • 1.5 - 2 tsp - grated Lemon zest
  • 75 g - of choco chips according to your taste

How to Make Lemon Chocolate pound cake

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  • Butter and flour a loaf pan.
  • Sift the flour along with the baking powder and a pinch of salt.
  • Whip the egg whites until they hold soft peaks.
  • Cream the butter until light and fluffy. Beat sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg yolks until light and lemon-coloured and then add the cognac and zest. Gradually fold the sifted flour mixture into the butter-egg mixture.
  • Fold in the beaten egg whites just until the batter is smooth.
  • Now add in chocolate chips and mix till they are uniformly mixed.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake in the oven for 35 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick pierced in the centre comes up clean.
