Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups - all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup - Butter (no substitutes), softened
  • 1 cup - Sugar
  • 1/4 cup - Poppy Seeds
  • 1 - Egg
  • 1 tbsp - Milk
  • 2 tsp - finely grated Lemon peel
  • 1/2 tsp - vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp - Lemon extract
  • How to Make Lemon Poppy Seed Slices:

    1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
    2. Beat in egg, milk lemon peel and extracts.
    3. Add flour and poppy seeds; mix well.
    4. Shape into two 8 in. rolls; wrap each in plastic wrap.
    5. Refrigerate for 3 hours or until firm.
    6. Unwrap and cut into 1/4 in slice.
    7. Place 2 in apart on ungreased baking sheets.
    8. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
    9. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
