Ingredients

  • Semiya - 2 cups
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Black gram (urad) dal - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 2, chopped
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lime juice - 2 tbsp, or to taste
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp, chopped
  • How to Make Lime Semiya:

    1. Boil about 8 cups of water.
    2. Add 1/2 tsp salt and the semiya.
    3. Boil for 1-2 mins till the semiya is cooked.
    4. Drain the water, and rinse the semiya with cold water and drain.
    5. This will reduce the starch and the end product will not be sticky.
    6. Place this in a non-stick pan.
    7. Heat oil in a pan and season with mustard, dal, chillies and curry leaves.
    8. Add to the semiya.
    9. Add salt and turmeric.
    10. Mix gently and keep covered on low flame till the contents are heated.
    11. Remove from fire, stir in the lime juice and coriander leaves.
    12. Serve hot.
