Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups (225g) - all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp - cocoa powder
  • 3/4 tsp - baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp - baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • 3/4 cup (200g) - granulated Sugar (increase to 1 cup if you don't use choco chips)
  • 1 tbsp - chocolate chips
  • Wet ingredients:
  • 1 cup (250 ml) - water
  • 1/2 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp - Lemon juice/vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) - oil

How to Make

  • Take water in a bowl; add vanilla essence, sugar, lemon juice and oil. Mix well till sugar completely dissolves. Keep aside.
  • Now take flour, baking soda, baking powder and cocoa powder and sift together twice.
  • Then slowly add the sifted flour mixture to the wet ingredients mixture - in 2 parts.
  • Gently mix in one direction, then add half of the choco chips and gently mix.
  • The batter should be runny.
  • Preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius for 10 mins.
  • In the meanwhile, grease the cake pan with a few drops of oil and pour the batter into the cake pan and top it with remaining choco chips.
  • Bake at 180 deg Celsius for 35 - 40 mins.
  • Check if a fork inserted comes out clean.
  • Make sure to cool completely for about 10 - 15 mins and then invert carefully, cut into pieces and serve.
