How to Make Maanga Paruppu

  • Wash the mango, cut them into small pieces.
  • Pressure cook the toor dal after washing thoroughly and keep aside.
  • In a wok, add oil and season the mustard seeds and gram dal.
  • Add slit green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add turmeric powder and the sliced (small) raw mango and saute for 3 minutes till the mango turns soft.
  • Add little water and simmer for a minute.
  • Add the pressure cooked toor dal and cook in medium fire for 8 minutes.
  • Add salt and simmer for one minute.
  • The mango paruupu is now ready.
  • Serve it hot with steamed rice or phulkas.
