Ingredients

  • 500 gms - fish cut into slices
  • 1 coconut, grated
  • 2 tsp - Til
  • 2 tsp - Dhania powder
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp - Jeera
  • 2 tsp - Khus Khus
  • 1/2 tsp - Haldi
  • 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 3 to 4 tbsp - oil
  • 1 onion, sliced fine
  • few Curry leaves
  • Tamarind
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Machchi Ka Salan:

    1. To make masala:
    2. Grind the Til, Dhania, Jeera, mustard, Khus Khus, one tbsp grated coconut, chilli powder, Haldi, garlic and one onion to a fine paste.
    3. Extract two cups milk from the grated coconut.
    4. Extract the pulp from the tamarind soaked in one cup of water.
    5. Heat oil and add one sliced onion. Fry till crisp.
    6. Put in the masala paste and fry till the oil separates.
    7. Now add the fish pieces and fry a little.
    8. Pour in the coconut milk and add salt to taste along with the curry leaves.
    9. Gently simmer till nearly done.
    10. Lastly add the tamarind water and again simmer a little.
    11. Serve machhi ka salan hot.
