Ingredients

  • 3 - medium green chillies
  • 1 tbsp - chilli powder
  • 4 tbsp - cooking oil
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp - ghee
  • 6 - mackerels (or pomfrets or mullets)
  • A few sprigs - mint leaves
  • 4 - medium onions
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper powder
  • A few plums
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder

How to Make Mackerels Stuffed

  • For stuffing:
  • In a pan, heat 2 tbsp ghee and fry chopped onions, green chillies, mint leaves, tomato, minced plum, pepper powder, garam masala powder and a little salt.
  • For chilli paste:
  • Mix red chilli powder, turmeric powder and a pinch of salt, with a little water.
  • Clean the fish, remove scales and fins, and slit the fish from head down the belly, and remove entrails and wash.
  • Trim the head part and tail, and dry the fish with a kitchen towel, and apply the chilli paste, inside and outside the fish.
  • Keep aside for an hour.
  • Stuff the inside of the fish with the onion mix and tie the fish with a thread, so that the filling does not come out.
  • Heat sufficient oil in a flat frying pan and fry the fish on both sides.
