Ingredients

  • For the stuffing:
  • Grated Coconut - 2 cups
  • Powdered Jaggery - 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 tsp
  • For the dough:
  • Maida flour - 1 cup
  • Oil - A few tsps (to knead the dough)
  • Oil - To deep fry

How to Make Maida Kozhukattai

  • Take a hard-bottom pan and heat the ghee in it.
  • Then, add a little water to the pan, and when water boils, add the powdered jaggery.
  • When the jaggery melts, immediately add the grated coconut and keep stirring constantly, while keeping the gas low.
  • When the entire mixture turns into a solid - without sticking to the pan - switch off gas and add cardamom powder.
  • Knead maida into a soft, stretchy dough with water and oil.
  • Roll the dough into uniform balls.
  • Keep a tsp of the stuffing inside each ball and deep fry the balls in oil till they turn brown.
