  • 2 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 100 gms - Almonds
  • 2 - Coconuts, fresh
  • 6 tbsp - Ghee
  • 440 gms - Jaggery
  • 100 gms - Plums
  • 1 kg - Rice, raw
  • 2 tsp - Salt to taste

How to Make Manee

  • Wash and soak the raw rice for 30 minutes.
  • Then scrape and grind the 2 coconuts and extract 8 to 10 cups of juice.
  • Now blanch and slice the almonds and wash the plums. Keep aside.
  • Then grind the rice into a fine paste with a little coconut juice.
  • Now remove and mix the ground rice with the remaining juice and jaggery and salt to taste, and blend into a thin batter.
  • Then apply ghee to inner sides of a pan and pour the batter into it and boil stirring continually.
  • When the batter thickens, add some more ghee and boil for 1 hour until it is sticky.
  • Then add the plums, almonds and cardamom powder and stir.
  • Now remove from fire and pour it into well greased plates and apply some ghee on the top and smoothen the surface with a knife.
  • Let it cool.
  • Now cut it into diamond or square shape pieces.
