  • 4 - eggs
  • Water - as required
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 2 tbsp - tea leaves
  • 2 - star anise

How to Make Marbled Tea Eggs

  • Boil the eggs in water, for 10 minutes. Let it cool.
  • Drain the water and wipe dry the eggs with a cloth.
  • Tap the eggs lightly with the back of a spoon to make even designs on the shell. Do not peel the shells off.
  • Take enough water in a pan to cover the eggs.
  • Put the tea leaves, salt and star anise into the water. Bring it to a boil.
  • Carefully, place the eggs into the boiling water. Reduce the heat to low.
  • Let it simmer for 1/2 an hour.
  • Switch off the heat. Leave the eggs in the same liquid for an hour.
  • Let it cool. Take the eggs off the water and peel off the shell.
  • Your marbled tea eggs are ready to be presented. The eggs taste just like, the normally boiled eggs.
