  • 4 - large potatoes, peeled and cubed (about 5 cups)
  • 1/2 cup - part-skim milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup - buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp - butter, room temperature
  • 3 to 4 - garlic (less or more as per your taste)
  • 3 to 4 tbsp - chives
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Mashed Potatoes with Garlic and Chives

  • Place the chopped potatoes in cold water and bring it a boil - about 10 mins.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for another 10 mins until soft. Drain and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, remove the outer skin of the garlic and place in a little water and microwave for 5 mins until soft.
  • Grind the softened garlic along with some buttermilk.
  • Mix the butter with the milk until dissolved completely.
  • Now add both milk and garlic-buttermilk to the potatoes and mash them. Season to taste.
  • Mash them into creamy consistency or with lumps.
  • Garnish with chives.
