  • 3 cups - tapioca (peeled and diced)
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • A few Curry leaves
  • 1 - Onion (chopped)
  • 2 tsp - Coconut oil
  • Salt - to taste
  • To Grind:
  • 1/2 cup - grated Coconut
  • 3 - Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 3 - Green chillies
  • How to Make Mashed Tapioca-Kappa Puzhukku:

    1. Cook the diced tapiocas with enough salt and water until they get well cooked.
    2. Drain the water and mash it well.
    3. Meanwhile, grind all the ingredients given under the list "to grind " as fine paste.
    4. Now take the grounded paste, turmeric powder in a vessel and cook on simmer for few minutes.
    5. Finally add the mashed tapioca, mix everything well, check for salt and put off the stove.
    6. Heat the coconut oil, add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
    7. Add immediately the onions, curry leaves and cook until the onions turn translucent.
    8. Add this to the cooked and mashed tapioca.
    9. Toss everything gently and serve warm with rice or porridge.
