Ingredients

  • 3 cups - tapioca (peeled and diced)
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • A few curry leaves
  • 1 - Onion (chopped)
  • 2 tsp - coconut oil
  • Salt - to taste
  • To Grind:
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 3 - garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 3 - green chillies

How to Make Mashed Tapioca-Kappa Puzhukku

  • Cook the diced tapiocas with enough salt and water until they get well cooked.
  • Drain the water and mash it well.
  • Meanwhile, grind all the ingredients given under the list "to grind " as fine paste.
  • Now take the grounded paste, turmeric powder in a vessel and cook on simmer for few minutes.
  • Finally add the mashed tapioca, mix everything well, check for salt and put off the stove.
  • Heat the coconut oil, add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  • Add immediately the onions, curry leaves and cook until the onions turn translucent.
  • Add this to the cooked and mashed tapioca.
  • Toss everything gently and serve warm with rice or porridge.
