  • 500 g - fresh mava (khoya)
  • 300 g - sugar, powdered
  • 2 tbsp - Milk
  • 1/2 tsp - Cardamom powdered
  • Colour as desired
  • Essence to match colour
  • Silver foil to decorate
  • How to Make Mawa Burfi:

    1. Crumble mawa into a heavy duty pan. Sprinkle milk, cardamom, mix well.
    2. Heat and stir, cooking over low flame.
    3. Make sure to stir continuously, with a spatula.
    4. When a very soft lump is formed, take off fire.
    5. Add colour and essence.
    6. Cool mava to just warm, add sugar.
    7. Mix very well to blend sugar into mawa.
    8. Spread into a shallow tray, smoothen down with back of small cup.
    9. Apply single layer silver foil carefully, to cover surface.
    10. Smooth down with butter paper of foil.
    11. Mark squares, allow to cool completely, before removing.
    12. Store in airtight container.
