Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - boneless mutton, cubed
  • 6 tbsp - oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 inch piece Cinnamon
  • 1 bayleaf
  • 3 green chillies, slit
  • 6 tbsp - dates, chopped
  • 6 tbsp- apricots, chopped
  • 6 tbsp - sultanas
  • 1 tsp - grated rind of Lime
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • chopped fresh coriander- for garnishing

How to Make Meat badshahi

  • Puree the dates
  • Heat oil in a kadai and fry the meat cubes until well browned.
  • Set aside.
  • Add remaining oil, saute the onions for 5-7 mins.
  • Add red chilli powder, cinnamon, bay leaf and lemon rind. Add fried meat. Add 1 cup water and salt to taste.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 15 mins.
  • Add another cup of water, cover and cook for another 20 mins.
  • Add the pureed dates, apricots and sultanas. Mix well and add more water if required.
  • Cover and cook on low heat until the meat is cooked.
  • Garnish with green chillies and coriander.
