Ingredients

  • 1 kg - minced meat
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup - tomato sauce or thick tomato puree
  • 1/4 cup - mutton stock
  • 1/2 cup - finely chopped onions
  • 1 cup - breadcrumbs
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp - Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For garnishing: whole tomatoes and parsley leaves

How to Make Meat loaf surprise

  • Fry the minced meat in 2 tbsp oil until the water dries up. Take off the fire.
  • Add the 2 beaten eggs, tomato sauce (or tomato puree), mutton stock, finely chopped onions, breadcrumbs, garlic cloves, minced parsley, Worcestershire sauce, chilli powder, salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
  • If the mixture looks dry, add 2 tbsp of extra tomato sauce.
  • Grease a 8 x 5 x 3 inch loaf tin. Put half the meat into it.
  • Place 4 hard boiled eggs, sideways on it.
  • Cover with the remaining meat. Press down lightly.
  • Bake for approximately 40 mins at 180 deg C.
  • Cool for 5 mins and then turn out.
  • Decorate with skinned whole tomatoes and parsley.
  • Serve hot or cold with additional tomato sauce.
