Ingredients

  • 12 - mackerels, cleaned, washed and slit lengthwise
  • 4 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1.5 tsp - thick tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1.5 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 200 ml - oil for frying

How to Make Meen Barthadu

  • Wash and wipe each fish with a towel.
  • In a bowl, mix chilli powder, turmeric powder, tamarind paste and salt.
  • Do not add water while making the paste.
  • Marinate fish pieces with above marinade and set aside for one hour.
  • Deep Fried the marinated fish till brown in colour and crisp on both the sides.
  • Drain and serve hot.
