Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups - Maida
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • 1 tbsp - oil (for dough)
  • Oil - 4 tbsp
  • 1/2 cup - water
  • 2 cups - Milk
  • 1 cup - Sugar
  • Sliced Almonds (fried)

How to Make Meethay Ghoday - A Hyderabadi Special

  • Take the flour, salt, oil in a bowl.
  • Add a little water at a time to make a dough.
  • Cover with a damp towel and keep aside for half an hour.
  • Then knead again for few minutes until the dough turns smooth, firm and pliable.
  • Divide the dough into 3 equal-sized pieces, roll a piece as a ball between your palms.
  • Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a disc.
  • Make the discs as thin as possible and use less flour to roll them thinly.
  • Cut the dough as small squares with a knife.
  • Shape each square into a flower and continue until the dough gets finished.
  • Leave the flower-shaped dough on the tray for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  • Next day, heat oil for frying. Once the oil is hot, fry the dried flower shaped dough until they turn crispy.
  • In a heavy bottomed pan, take the milk, water and heat it, add the fried flowers and cook on simmer for 15 minutes until they turn soft.
  • Finally add the sugar and mix.
  • Add more water if needed and cook them for few more minutes.
  • Once done, add the shallow fried sliced almonds.
  • Serve at room temperature.
