Ingredients

  • 1 cup - methi leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup - toor (red gram) dal
  • 1/2 cup - onion, chopped
  • 1 piece cinnamon
  • 2 cardamom
  • 1 tsp - ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp - garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp - chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • dry mango powder (aam choor) to taste
  • salt to taste
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 tbsp - oil

How to Make Methi Dal with aam choor

  • Cook dal with enough water till very soft and mash well (consistency should be of thick cream).
  • Heat the oil in a kadai. Add cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
  • After few seconds, add onions, ginger and garlic. Fry till onions turn brown.
  • Mix all the powders with little water to a paste. Fry for 2 mins.
  • Add methi leaves and fry well.
  • Add to the cooked dal and add salt. Simmer for 2 mins.
  • Add aamchoor, mix well and remove from fire.
  • Serve hot with chapathi or steamed rice.
