Ingredients

  • Button mushroom - 200 gms, sliced
  • Red gram (tovar) dal - 250 gms
  • tomato - 150 gms, cut into quarters
  • oil - 2 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • garlic - 8 flakes, sliced
  • green chillies, chopped and crushed - 3 to 4
  • onion - 1 cup, sliced
  • fenugreek leaves, chopped - 1 cup
  • chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • salt to taste

How to Make Methi Mushroom Dal

  • Cook dal with enough water till soft and mash till smooth.
  • Heat oil in kadai. Add mustard seeds.
  • When they pop, add garlic and fry till dark brown.
  • Add green chilli and onion and fry till golden brown.
  • Add fenugreek leaves and all the powders.
  • Fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add tomato, mushroom and salt.
  • Add 1/2 cup of water and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add dal and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice.
