Ingredients

  • 1 bunch - Methi leaves, chopped (fenugreek)
  • 4 cups - basmati Rice
  • 1 medium - onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • Salt - to taste
  • 1 tsp - Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp - Green chillies paste
  • 1/2 tsp - Garam Masala
  • 4 tsp - vegetable or Corn oil
  • How to Make Methi Rice:

    1. Wash the methi leaves carefully and chop it and keep aside.
    2. Remove water from it.
    3. Wash the rice and keep aside with some water inside.
    4. Heat a non-stick pan. Pour oil in it.
    5. When it is hot, put mustard seeds, when it is popped up, put onion in it.
    6. Fry onions till it caramelized.
    7. Take the paste of garlic and ginger and fry till light brown.
    8. Add green chilli and fry for another 2 mins.
    9. Add methi in it and leave it on medium heat till water disappear.
    10. Add salt and garam masala. Stir it.
    11. Finally, add rice and 2 cups of water to cook the rice.
    12. Check in between if rice needs more water.
    13. Allow the rice to cook.
    14. Serve hot with chutneys or eat it the way you like it.
