Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup - tuvar dal, cooked in 2 cups - water
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 4 cocum
  • 3/4 tsp - Fenugreek seeds, pounded coarsely
  • 1/3 cup Jaggery
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala
  • 1/2 cup - kopra, lightly browned
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds, ground
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 2 cups - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • Salt to taste

How to Make

  • Heat oil. Add fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida.
  • Add dal with water, all powder spices, jaggery and salt. Boil till blended, adding water if needed.
  • Add cocum, coconut, and cumin paste. Simmer and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with rice.
