Ingredients

  • Any type of vatral
  • 1 tbsp - sambar powder
  • 2 - Red Chilli
  • A small Tamarind ball
  • A few Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - Corn flour
  • salt to taste
  • For seasoning:
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Urad Dal
  • 1/2 tsp - Channa dal
  • Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp - cooking oil
  • How to Make Microwave Vatral Kuzhambu:

    1. Add the tamarind ball in 1/4 cup of water in a microwave dish.
    2. Cover it with a lid and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes.
    3. Allow it to cool down to room temperature.
    4. Then extract tamarind juice from it.
    5. In a microwave dish, add cooking oil, mustard seeds, urad dal and channa dal, pieces of red chilli.
    6. Cover it and cook on 'high' for 2 minutes.
    7. As soon as it is over, add vatral, asafoetida and curry leaves.
    8. Add sambhar powder to it.
    9. Stir well.
    10. Cover it and cook on 'medium' for a minute.
    11. Then add tamarind juice and salt.
    12. Cover it and cook on 'high' for 4 minutes.
    13. Dissolve corn flour in 1 tsp of water and add it to kuzhambu.
    14. Stir well.
