Ingredients

  • 300 g - tender bottle gourd, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup - Bengal Gram dal, washed, soaked for 45 minutes
  • 1 stalk - Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Coriander seed powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 2 to 3 pinches - Asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp - Wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Microwaved Bottle gourd and Dal:

    1. Sprinkle wheat flour over gourd pieces, mix lightly, keep aside. Put dal in a deep microwave bowl, with 1/2 cup water. Microwave on high for 6-7 mins, till half done.
    2. Add gourd, spread evenly, microwave again for 4 mins.
    3. Sprinkle all masalas, salt, oil, cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida.
    4. Microwave again for 3-4 mins, remove, stand for 2 mins.
    5. Toss well with a fork or wooden spatula.
    6. Garnish with coriander leaves, serve hot with chapattis.
