  • 2 cups - leftover idli batter
  • 1/2 cup - rolled oats (ground coarsely)
  • water if needed
  • 1 cup - Onions (chopped lengthwise)
  • 1 tsp - sambar powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds + Urad Dal
  • a few Curry leaves
  • oil as needed
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Mini Oats Idly Fry:

    1. Mix the rolled oats to the idli batter, add water if needed and keep aside for a few minutes.
    2. Grease the mini idli plates with oil. Pour enough idli-oats batter and steam-cook for about 10 minutes in an idli cooker.
    3. When the idlis are done, remove carefully with a spoon and keep aside.
    4. Heat enough oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
    5. When the seeds splutter, add the onions and saute until translucent.
    6. Now add the idlis, sambar powder, garam masala powder and salt and simmer until the idlis are well coated with the spice powder. Serve hot.
