Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - toor dal (cooked)
  • 1 - onion (chopped)
  • 1 - big tomato (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup - mint leaves (washed and chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp - sambar powder
  • 2 - green chillies (slit)
  • 1 tsp - lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds + urad dal
  • 3 - dry red chillies
  • 1/4 tsp - hing powder
  • salt to taste
  • oil

How to Make Mint Dal

  • Heat enough oil and fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies and hing powder.
  • Add the chopped onion and green chillies. Saute until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the chopped tomato and cook until it turns mushy.
  • Add the chopped mint leaves and saute until the leaves shrink a bit.
  • Add the cooked toor dal, enough water, salt and sambar powder.
  • Cook the vegetables well.
  • Finally add lemon juice and turn off the flame.
  • Enjoy with rice or roti.
