Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Toor Dal
  • 3 - Green chillies
  • 3 - tbsp grated copra
  • 1 - Tomato
  • 1 - Onion
  • 1/2 tsp -garlic-ginger paste
  • 1 tsp - garam-masala powder
  • 2 - sprigs Curry leaves
  • Asafoetida -a pinch
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 2 tbsp - Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Mirchi-Daal:

    1. Boil toor dal with chopped onion and tomatoes in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles.
    2. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaves, a pinch asafoetida, ginger-garlic paste and fry for 5 mins.
    3. Then add grated copra and fry till it becomes light brown.
    4. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and add 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.
    5. Then add the boiled tuvar daal with garam-masala and salt to taste and let it boil for 10-15 mins again.
    6. Serve hot.
