  • 500 g - Rice flour
  • 1 - finely grated Coconut
  • 250 g - finely grated Jaggery
  • 7 - peeled Cardamoms
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Modak:

    1. Heat coconut, jaggery and cardamoms over a low fire and cook till thick.
    2. Meanwhile, boil 1/2 litre of water and add the flour gradually, stirring all the time.
    3. Cook on low heat till the flour turns thick like dough.
    4. Remove from fire, rub a tbsp. of oil on it and knead to a very smooth dough.
    5. Divide the dough and the coconut mixture into equal number of portions.
    6. Form each portion of dough into a cup, stuff with coconut mixture and form the cup in the shape of a pyramid.
    7. Steam for half an hour and serve hot or cold.
