Ingredients

  • 300 g - moong dal (whole)
  • 1/4 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - chana dal
  • 1/2 tsp - urad dal
  • 2 - green chilli
  • 2-inch - ginger, grated
  • 10-12 - curry leaves
  • 4-5 tbsp - grated coconut
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • Salt - to taste

How to Make Moong Dal Usali

  • Boil moong dal to the consistency of cooked rice (not too soggy).
  • Heat oil in a kadai and prepare a tadka by adding mustard seeds.
  • Once it splutters add chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, green chillies and grated ginger and fry for some time.
  • Add cooked moong dal, and salt (as per your taste).
  • Garnish with grated coconut.
  • This can be served as a snack or with chappatis.
