Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Moong dal flour
  • 1/4 cup - Gram flour
  • 2 cups - Rice flour
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafoetida powder
  • 1 tbsp - Ajwain seeds
  • Salt
  • Oil for deep frying

How to Make Moongdal Omapodi

  • Soak the ajwain seeds in a cup of warm water.
  • Grind as a fine paste and strain the ajwain water.
  • Take the moong dal flour, gram flour, rice flour, asafoetida powder and salt in a large bowl.
  • Gradually, add the ajwain water and knead into a soft and stiff dough.
  • Heat the oil for deep frying.
  • Meanwhile, take the murukku press and press with the omapodi nozzle.
  • Take enough dough in the murukku press and press directly to the hot oil.
  • Fry the omapodi on both sides until they turn golden brown.
  • Drain the excess oil with a paper towel and arrange in an air tightened box.
  • Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea.
