Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - mutton, cubed
  • 1 cup - thick coconut milk
  • 1 cup - tomato, chopped
  • 1 cup - onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup - thin coconut milk
  • 8 flakes garlic
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - black pepper corns
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • salt to taste

How to Make Mulligatawny Mutton Curry

  • Grind garlic, cumin and pepper to a fine paste.
  • Heat the oil in a pressure cooker/pan.
  • Add onion and fry till golden brown.
  • Add the ground paste, fry till fragrant.
  • Add chilli powder and tomato. Cook till tomato is pulpy.
  • Add mutton, salt and thin coconut milk. Pressure cook for 15 minutes.
  • After the pressure drops, open the cooker and add thick coconut milk.
  • Simmer for 2 minutes and remove from fire.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice.
