  • 1 cup - Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked in water for 2 hours
  • 1/2 coconut, cut into small pieces
  • 10 raisins
  • 2/3 green chillies
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • For garam masala:
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp - ground red chillies
  • 2.5 cm ginger
  • 1 tsp - cumin seed powder

How to Make Munakkewali Chane Ki Dal

  • Boil the dal with salt till tender.
  • Each grain of the dal must be soft and separate. Heat oil.
  • Add the garam masala and pour over the dal.
  • Fry small cubes of coconut and put in the dal.
  • Add the raisins and 2-3 slit green chillies.
  • Simmer till well done.
  • Serve with puris.
