Ingredients

  • Murmura - 2 cups
  • Onion - 1
  • Green chillies - 4
  • Curry leaves - as per taste
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp - channa dal
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • 1 tsp - jeera
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tsps - red chilli powder
  • 2 tsps - powdered roasted peanuts (optional)

How to Make Murmura Upma

  • Soak murmura in water for about 7 mins.
  • Chop onions and chillies and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in kadai and add channa dal, urad dal, jeera and mustard seeds.
  • Once they splutter, add curry leaves.
  • Add the chillies next and the onion, and saute.
  • Squeeze the water from the murmura and add to the kadai.
  • Add salt, turmeric and chilli power.
  • Mix it well and keep on fire for 5 mins.
  • Garnish with coriander.
  • You can also powder roasted peanuts and sprinkle it on the upma.
