Ingredients

  • Murmura - 2 cups
  • Onion - 1
  • Green chillies - 4
  • Curry leaves - as per taste
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp - Channa dal
  • 1 tsp - Urad Dal
  • 1 tsp - Jeera
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tsps - Red Chilli powder
  • 2 tsps - powdered roasted Peanuts (optional)
  • How to Make Murmura Upma:

    1. Soak murmura in water for about 7 mins.
    2. Chop onions and chillies and keep aside.
    3. Heat oil in kadai and add channa dal, urad dal, jeera and mustard seeds.
    4. Once they splutter, add curry leaves.
    5. Add the chillies next and the onion, and saute.
    6. Squeeze the water from the murmura and add to the kadai.
    7. Add salt, turmeric and chilli power.
    8. Mix it well and keep on fire for 5 mins.
    9. Garnish with coriander.
    10. You can also powder roasted peanuts and sprinkle it on the upma.
