Ingredients

  • Button mushroom - 250 g
  • Onion - 1
  • Grated coconut - 3/4 cup
  • Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic - 2 flakes
  • Red chilli - 2
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dhal - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste.

How to Make Mushroom Thoran

  • Chop onion finely. Cut each mushroom into 6 pieces and keep aside.
  • Grind together grated coconut, turmeric powder, jeera, garlic flakes and a red chillies.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add the mushrooms to it and stir fry till they are almost done adding a little salt. Keep the mushrooms aside.
  • In the same kadai, heat oil and splutter mustard. Add urad dal, red chilli and curry leaves and saute till it turns golden brown. Add the chopped onion, crushed masala and saute for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add little salt to it.
  • Finally, add the mushrooms to it and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
