Ingredients

  • 2 cups - paneer, cubed
  • 1 cup - boiled peas
  • 1/2 cup - tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup - cream
  • 2-3 - ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 - large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • 1 tsp - turmeric
  • Few sprigs of cilantro for garnish
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - honey
  • To be ground into paste:
  • 2-3 - cloves
  • 1 inch - gingerroot, peeled and chopped
  • 2-3 - green chillies (or as per taste)
  • 1 tbsp - cashews
  • 1 tbsp - poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp - cumin

How to Make Muttar Paneer

  • Fry the paneer cubes till golden brown.
  • Remove and drop them in a bowl of water.
  • This way the excess oil floats to the top and the paneer also gets soft. Remove and set aside.
  • In a skillet add 1/2 tsp oil and add the ground paste to it.
  • Once the raw smell is replaced by aroma, add the onions and saute for 3-5 min till they get soft.
  • Add the tomatoes and stir until soft.
  • Then add the puree, peas, cream, honey and the spices and stir for another 5 min.
  • You can add water if you prefer gravy consistency.
  • When it starts boiling, add the paneer and cook for another 5-10 mins.
  • Serve warm garnished with cilantro.
