How to Make Mutton Bafat

  • Grind together the chillies, cumin, peppercorns, garlic and ginger.
  • Mix in the turmeric.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker and fry the onions till light brown.
  • Add the tomatoes and stir a bit.
  • Add mutton and fry for a minute. Add the masala and tamarind.
  • Cover and cook until mutton is cooked (approx. 1 hour till meat is tender).
  • Add water whenever required. Add sugar and vinegar too.
  • Pressure cook again for one whistle after adding required water.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot.
