Ingredients

  • 500 g - mutton
  • 100 g - channa dal
  • 1 - onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - ginger garlic paste
  • For garam masala:
  • 3-4 - cloves
  • 1 stick - cinnamon
  • 2-2 - cardamom pods
  • 1/2tsp - khuskhus
  • salt as per taste

How to Make Mutton Channa dal Curry

  • Boil the channa dal in a cooker for one whistle such that it retains its shape(half boiled), and keep it aside.
  • Cut the mutton to bite-size pieces and wash it and keep it aside.
  • Make a paste of all the masalas.
  • Now take a saucepan and put oil in it and fry onions and green chillies till they are light brown in colour.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and garam masala paste to it, fry for 2-3 mins.
  • Add mutton, salt, turmeric and stir on high heat for 3 mins, then simmer until all the water is gone and the mutton is tender.
  • Now add water and pressure cook for 7 to 8 whistles.
  • When the mutton is cooked, add the cooked channa dal to it and simmer it for 10 mins until heated through.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  • Goes well with hot rice .
