Ingredients

  • 500 g - mutton, cut into medium size pieces
  • 2 cup - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 200 ml - thick Coconut Milk
  • 1/2 cup - Shallots (small onions), peeled
  • 4 Green chillies
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp - Ginger Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - Tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Mutton Patia:

    1. Grind the coriander leaves with green chillies. Mix the paste with all the powders.
    2. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker/pan. Fry the onions till brown.
    3. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry till fragrant. Add the masala paste and fry well.
    4. Add the mutton, salt, tamarind , remaining coriander leaves and 1 cup of hot water. Pressure cook for 20 mins.
    5. When the pressure drops, open the cooker, add coconut milk and sugar.
    6. Boil briskly till the gravy is thick.
    7. Serve hot with parsi brown rice or jeera pulao.
