Ingredients

  • raw rice - 1 cup
  • par boiled rice - 1 cup
  • black gram (urad) dal - ½ cup
  • fenugreek seeds - 1 tbsp
  • curds - ½ cup
  • turmeric powder -½ tsp
  • cooking soda - ½ tsp
  • oil to cook dosas
  • salt to taste

How to Make Mysore Methi Dosa

  • Wash and soak both the rice and dal together for 2-3 hours.
  • Soak fenugreek seeds in curd
  • Grind the rice and dal with curd and fenugreek to a smooth batter.
  • Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and keep covered overnight (consistency is like usual dosa batter).
  • Next morning mix in the soda.
  • Heat a dosa pan, and brush with little oil.
  • Pour a ladle of batter and spread very lightly.
  • (This dosa is thicker than usual dosa).
  • Cover and cook till the underside is done.
  • Turn over the dosa, cook briefly and remove.
  • Serve hot with chutney and/or sambar.
