Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Green peas , boiled
  • 2 - Potatoes, cubed small
  • 2 tbsp - Mustard oil
  • 2 - Tomatoes, chopped
  • 2-3 - Green chillies, chopped small
  • A small piece of ginger, sliced
  • 1 tsp - Salt
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric
  • 1 tsp - Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp -Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp - Coriander seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp - Garam masala
  • Cilantro for garnishing

How to Make Nimona - Green Peas Curry

  • Take 1.5 cups of boiled green peas and blend without water for a pulse or two and keep aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and fry cubed potatoes for 3-4 minutes till they get light brown and crisp and keep aside.
  • Now, heat oil in the same pan and splutter cumin seeds.
  • Add asafoetida and after 10 seconds add rest of the spices along with ginger pieces and fry for a minute.
  • Add tomatoes and cook covered till tender.
  • Pour in the blended peas and the remaining half a cup of whole peas together in the tomato paste and cook covered for few minutes, stirring in between.
  • Add water according to your preference and keep stirring for 2 minutes.
  • Add fried potatoes and turn off the heat.
  • Garnish with cilantro and garam masala.
