  • 1 cup - Corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1/4 cup - water
  • 1/4 cup - grated Coconut
  • Puttu maker
  • How to Make Nirapara Cornflour Puttu:

    1. Take a big flat bowl.
    2. Add 1 cup corn flour and salt.
    3. Sprinkle water and mix it with fingers.
    4. Mix it slowly so that it won't roll into small balls.
    5. Fill this corn flour mixture in Puttu maker - gadget for making puttu.
    6. This puttu maker - gadget will essentially have a sieve at the bottom. Place a 5 mm layer of grated coconut at the bottom.
    7. The filling should be in such a way that a 5 mm thick layer of grated coconut should be layered every 3 - 4 inch thickness of corn flour mixture; while filling.
    8. Top it with liberal layer of coconut scraping.
    9. Steam it on the pressure cooker on medium heat for 5-8 minutes till a consistent stream of steam emanates from the top of puttu maker.
    10. Push the puttu from the puttu-maker with the help of a thin rod.
    11. Serve hot with Kadala curry, Pappadam , Payaru or Bananas.
