Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1.5 cups Sugar
  • 2 tsp - Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt

How to Make Nutmeg cake

  • Cream shortening and butter together.
  • Gradually add sugar and vanilla essence and cream until light.
  • Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Sieve dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition.
  • Pour into greased pan and bake in a moderate slow oven at 180 C for 30-40 mins.
