Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1.5 cups Sugar
  • 2 tsp - Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • How to Make Nutmeg cake:

    1. Cream shortening and butter together.
    2. Gradually add sugar and vanilla essence and cream until light.
    3. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
    4. Sieve dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition.
    5. Pour into greased pan and bake in a moderate slow oven at 180 C for 30-40 mins.
