  • 1 cup - green moong dal
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup - Rice
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee
  • salt to taste
  • 6-7 cups - water
  • How to Make Nutritional Green Khichidi:

    1. Wash both dal and rice together. Soak for an hour in salted water.
    2. Add half the turmeric. Pressure cook dal with half the water. It gets done in about 4 whistles.
    3. Transfer to a large saucepan, add remaining water, turmeric, ghee and add more salt if required.
    4. Cook while stirring, till the khichidi is thick and well mixed. Mash a little if desired.
    5. Serve hot with more ghee (optional) and kadhi.
