  • 2 cups Rice flour
  • 1/4 cup Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup Split roasted gram dal/pottukadalai
  • 1 tsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 cup Coconut Milk
  • Salt
  • Oil for Deep Frying
  • How to Make Oats Coconut Murukku:

    1. Grind as fine powder the split roasted gram.
    2. Dry roast the rolled oats and grind as a fine powder.
    3. Dry roast the urad dal and grind as fine powder.
    4. Take the rice flour, split gram dal flour, oats flour and urad dal flour along with salt, sesame seeds and cumin seeds.
    5. Meanwhile heat the coconut milk and butter together on simmer.
    6. Don't boil the coconut milk.
    7. Add this heated coconut milk to the flours and knead everything as a soft and stiff dough.
    8. Heat oil for Deep Frying.
    9. Take a ball of dough in a muruku press.
    10. Squeeze out the murukku over a greased plate and drop gently in to the hot oil.
    11. Fry on both sides until the oil stops bubbling.
    12. Drain the excess of oil in a paper towel.
