Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup - Roasted Urad Dal flour
  • 1cup - rolled oats (roasted and grounded)
  • 1 tsp - Butter
  • 1/2 tsp - Asafoetida powder
  • 2 - Dry Red Chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp - Peppercorns
  • 2 - Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tbsp - Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • How to Make Oats Thattai:

    1. Grind the dry red chillies, fennel seeds, peppercorns and garlic cloves as fine powder.
    2. Take this grounded powder along with rice flour, roasted and grounded oats flour, urad dal flour, butter, asafoetida powder, salt, sesame seeds and cumin seeds in a large vessel.
    3. Knead a soft dough with enough water.
    4. Heat oil for Deep Frying. Take a golf ball-sized dough and flatten it.
    5. Drop this flattened thattais in to the oil.
    6. Fry until the both sides turns golden brown.
    7. Repeat the same process until the dough gets finished.
    8. Conserve these thattais in an air-tight box and enjoy!
