Ingredients

  • 250 gm - Okra
  • 5 tbsp - oil
  • 1 - Star anise
  • 1/2 cup - minced Onion
  • 2 tsp - minced Garlic
  • 2 tsp - minced Ginger
  • 1/2 cup - chopped Celery
  • 2 tsp - minced Green chilli
  • 1/2 cup - minced Cabbage
  • 2 tsp - roasted chilli paste
  • 1/2 cup - Tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • How to Make Okra in Szechuan Sauce:

    1. Wash okra and wipe them dry.
    2. Cut into 3 cm long pieces.
    3. Heat oil in a wok and fry okra till brown.
    4. Drain and reserve.
    5. To the remaining oil in the pan, add star anise, onion, garlic and ginger.
    6. Fry till fragrant.
    7. Add celery, green chilli and cabbage.
    8. Stir fry for 30 seconds.
    9. Add chilli paste and tomato sauce.
    10. Add okra, salt and sugar.
    11. Toss well and remove from fire.
    12. Serve hot with fried rice or noodles.
