  • 150 g- Okra (bhindi, ladies finger)
  • 150 g- Onion
  • 2 tsp- green chillies, minced
  • 2 tsp- garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp Vinegar
  • cooking soda a pinch
  • besan and Rice flour to bind
  • oil to deep fry
  • salt to taste

How to Make Okra Pakodas

  • Add 4 Tbsp of vinegar to 2 cups of water and soak okra in it for ½ hour.
  • Drain, rise and wipe dry. This will reduce the sliminess of okra. Cut into very thin slices.
  • Chop the onions finely and add to the okra.
  • Add green chillies, garlic, salt and soda.
  • Sprinkle equal quantities of besan and rice flour. Mix till the mixture holds together. Sprinkle very little water if needed.
  • Take marble sizes lumps of this mixture and drop into moderately hot oil. Fry till crisp and golden. Serve hot.
