Ingredients

  • 6 slices - day-old white bread, crust removed
  • 2 tbsp - reduced calorie margarine, melted
  • Sugar substitute to equal 3/4 cup Sugar, divided
  • 1 tsp - ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup - seedless Raisins
  • Vegetable cooking spray
  • 4 - eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups - skimmed Milk
  • 1 tsp - vanilla extract
  • How to Make Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding:

    1. Brush bread lightly with melted margarine.
    2. Sprinkle with 1 tsp sugar substitute and cinnamon.
    3. Quarter each bread slice. Layer with raisins in a 1.5 quart casserole dish coated with cooking spray.
    4. Set dish aside.
    5. Combine eggs, milk, vanilla, and remaining 2 tsps sugar substitute.
    6. Pour over bread and raisins in dish.
    7. Place dish in a pan containing 1 inch of hot water.
    8. Bake at 350 degrees C for 55 mins to 1 hour or until a knife inserted in centre comes out clean.
    9. Serve warm, or cover and refrigerate until chilled.
