  • 3 cups - All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp - Active Dry yeast
  • 1 tsp - Salt
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1.25 cup - Warm water
  • 4 tbsp - Olive oil (shaping, greasing, for drizzling)
  • 1pinch Salt (for topping)
  • 10 - Black seedless Olives
  • 1 tsp - Dry Basil leaves
  • How to Make Olive Basil Foccacia:

    1. Mix the sugar, salt and yeast in lukewarm water and let them sit for 5 minutes.
    2. Meanwhile, take the all-purpose flour in a mixing bowl and add the foaming yeast. Mix everything well and transfer them to lightly floured surface and knead to form a soft dough.
    3. Coat a deep bowl with olive oil and place the soft dough. Brush with more oil, cover it and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place. After an hour it will almost double in size.
    4. Place the dough in a round baking pan.
    5. Mix both the dry basil leaves with 1 tsp of olive oil and keep aside.
    6. Apply a few drops of oil to the baking pan and press the dough to flatten them and let it sit again for 1 hour. The dough will again rise and double in size.
    7. Press the dough with your fingertips and drizzle some oil. Place seedless olives over them and brush the dough with basil-oil mixture and sprinkle the salt.
    8. Preheat the oven to 475 Fahrenheit and place the baking pan on the middle rack and bake for 15 minutes or till the dough turns slightly brown.
    9. Serve with cream cheese and salads.
