Ingredients

  • 1 - Medium-sized onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 - bunch pudina/mint leaves (finely chopped, make sure there are no stalks)
  • 4 to 5 - Green chillies finely chopped into tiny pieces
  • A handful of dry peanuts
  • A pinch of chaat masala (optional)
  • For the batter:
  • Two cups - Besan/Gram flour
  • 1 tsp - chilly powder
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • One cup - water
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Onion Pudina Pakodas

  • Mix all the ingredients for the batter in a bowl with water to make a fine paste.
  • Make sure the paste isn't too watery but not too thick either. It would help to add the water little by little so that you get the right consistency.
  • Add the chopped onions, mint leaves, green chillies, and peanuts to the batter. Mix well.
  • Heat enough oil in a kadai for deep-frying.
  • Take a small handful of the batter, enough to make a ball and slip it into the oil.
  • Repeat till the batter with all the other ingredients are finished.
  • Fry till golden brown and take it out of the oil.
  • Serve hot with mint chutney or by itself.
